Entertainment at the Habsburg court: hunting, tourneys and music
The Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna is home to a further three collections at the NEUE BURG on Heldenplatz:
The Collection of Arms and Armour showcases elaborately decorated suits of armour, firearms, precious textiles and saddles that once belonged to Habsburg princes and the scions of Europe’s grandest ruling families. Theirs is a tale of important political events and sumptuous tournaments as well as the world’s largest collection of falconry accoutrements at the imperial court.
The celebrated Collection of Historical Musical Instruments offers a comprehensive survey of the development of musical instruments and music making in Austria under the Habsburgs.
The so-called Parthian Monument in the Ephesus Museum documents the grandeur of the ancient city of Ephesus.
